This involved meeting the owners and operators, understanding and addressing challenges, and building roadmaps for the future.

Through Project Surya Chakra, we’re transforming the way atta chakkis operate. By helping mill owners transition from traditional diesel generators to solar power, on average, we’ve reduced their diesel consumption from 9.6 liters per day to just 1.92 liters. As a result, they save an average of ₹24,000 per month on fuel costs—freeing up resources for growth, increasing profitability, and driving a shift toward clean, sustainable energy in rural communities.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Solar Panel Installation
- We actively onboard rural MSMEs through a combination of workshops and door-to-door outreach, educating them on the financial and operational benefits of switching to solar.
- Our team directly engages with atta chakki owners, addressing concerns and demonstrating how solar power reduces diesel costs, increases savings, and improves long-term profitability.
- Through our collaboration with Metafin, we provide customized financing solutions, enabling owners to transition to solar with zero financial burden.
- Each installation generates 14,400 kWh per year, significantly cutting operational expenses while ensuring cash-flow positivity from Day 1.
Rural entrepreneurs experience seamless adoption of solar energy, gain financial security, and reduce fossil fuel dependence—all without upfront costs.
2.Skills Training & Safety
- We provide technical and financial literacy training to atta chakki owners and workers, helping them efficiently operate, maintain, and maximize the benefits of their solar-powered systems.
- To make learning accessible to all, we are producing an instructional video in Hindi, English, and Indian Sign Language that teaches solar panel maintenance and troubleshooting.
- We conduct hands-on workshops on the proper cleaning of solar panels, ensuring maximum energy efficiency and long-term durability.
- Our training extends beyond energy—workplace safety programs equip workers with eye protection and hazard prevention against wheat dust and mustard gas exposure.
- By empowering rural business owners with financial tools, we help them retain up to 80% of their new savings as profit.

3.Sustainability Education
- We bring interactive sustainability workshops to students in Grades 6-10, integrating hands-on learning with real-world applications.
- In partnership with respected curriculum developers, we are developing India’s first structured curriculum on solar panels and renewable energy with the hope that it is to be introduced in schools nationwide.
- This curriculum will include experiential learning modules, practical solar energy applications, and interactive case studies to inspire the next generation of climate-conscious entrepreneurs.
- Schools and local youth leaders are engaged in climate literacy, ensuring that the next generation understands the importance of renewable energy and sustainable business models.
- Our goal is to build future changemakers who will advocate for clean energy solutions in their communities.
